When is it appropriate to get teeth flippers for children?

My dentist has recommended it for my son.

If he still has his baby teeth it is not necessary for him to wear one. It is good for them to wear one if they have adult teeth in and have lost one or more so the other teeth do not move around.

Because a child's mouth is still growing and changing, especially children that have not had all their permanent teeth come in, it is a better idea to use flippers as a short term solution. When the child is older, say early teens, other options such as bridgework and implants might be more appropriate.

Possibly from the age of five and up. You need to ensure the appliance fits well and is not uncomfortable. Make an appointment with a highly qualified dentist and discuss this option. They are made from various materials and might be best to choose the highest quality one. Teeth are extremely important.

Teeth flippers are cosmetic and will improve the appearance of your son's smile. If your son is doing acting work, teeth flippers are probably important. Otherwise, you can wait for those permanent teeth to grow in!

It is appropriate to get them when your dentist recommends them. They are trained in this field. However, it is always okay to get a second opinion if you would like one.
