Do you need to treat craze lines in teeth?

I have a habit of grinding my teeth at night as a result I have several surfice cracks in my teeth.

Craze lines are minor cracks that are superficial and affect the outer enamel of the tooth only and are common in all adults. These lines do not cause any pain and hence no treatment is needed. They mainly occur due to the normal wear and tear on teeth.

What if you want treatment. I hate the way they look, and i want them gone! what treatment is available for fixing them or making them not at all noticable?  add a comment

My dentist wants to cap my two upper front teeth because of the crazes he showed me on his monitor when magnified. They have no pain or sensitivity. Then he said the gap between them is getting bigger, another reason to cap cause they might start cracking or chipping. Necessary?  add a comment

Cracked teeth are subject to bacterial infection and may "go bad" if left untreated. You should take care to keep your teeth clean, and get regular check-ups to watch badly cracked ones. Get a bite guard for grinding when you sleep. Non-custom, inexpensive bite guards are available at most full-service drug stores, and may help prevent headaches and jaw pain.

It is better to have a custom mouth guard made. I have heard non-custom guards can actually promote the habit of grinding your teeth.  add a comment

A grinding guard will help and prevent it from further damage from the grinding and that is not a problem anymore. There is not much you can do about the damage that is alreaady in place but there is a way of preventing further damge and also the dentist can help pick the right tool.

Craze lines in teeth do not require attention because they are painless and minor cracks. However, to reduce the appearance of the craze lines, a dentist can gently polish the area to smooth the tooth.

Craze lines are normally crack lines that appear on the outer enamel of the adult teeth due to constant wear and tear. These lines cause no pain so treatment is not required.

Yes you should get something done about the grinding, maybe get a night guard to wear so that you do not cause any further damage.
