Once a nodule melanoma is diagnosed removal is usualy the best plan of action. Early detection of melanoma is one the best ways to increase the likelihood of remaining cancer free once the melanoma is removed. In most cases the removal can be done right in the doctors office with very little complications

Melanoma is the deadliest type of skin cancer and is always treated aggressively. The treatment may depend on the location of the lesion but usually the melanoma would be removed and any area around it that is suspicious would also be removed. More treatment might follow in the form of radiation treatment or chemotherapy.

The pathologist will observe the tumor under a microscope and determine whether it is malignant or not. The person is treated in the out patients department. The area is given a local anaesthetic to numb. The melanoma is then dug out making sure there is no root left. A covering is then put on such as a plaster to keep the wound clean. This should be all that is necessary.
