Take the dog to the vet to be sure he has all of his vaccinations and shots. Pick a vet that will become your primary animal doctor and establish a relationship.

If they dog is going to be an indoor dog, make sure you have your house dog proofed. Meaning make sure anything that is valuable is out of the reach of the dog so it won't become a chew toy.
