Crabgrass is a really tough grass that is almost impossible to eradicate. In fact, in some places it is considered a weed just for this reason. It is in fact grass, and the color is green, so this might be just what you are looking for. Be sure it can grow in your local climate.

The deep root system of Zoysia grass makes it a great choice because of it's durability and resistance to heavy traffic.

Bermuda G-N1 would work, as it is a durable grass with a quick recovery time from damage. Zoysai is another very wear-tolerant grass. However, to really reduce damage to your lawn you should train your dogs to take different traveling routes to prevent patterns and minimize wear to your grass.

Blue grass is very good because it is strong. The root system in the blue grass allows it to last over time and over constant play. Therefore, I recommend blue grass.

Try Kentucky Blue Grass. It can withstand the traffic of animals and people as well. It is also a very hearty grass and grows back year after year.

It depends where you live. We use St. Augustine which is very hardy. It will survive your dogs and extreme weather conditions such as heat or lots of rain.

Rye grass is a hardy and fast grower. I used iton a property I have that was sand and dirt. The grass, with watering, took off and looks great!

Tall Fescue is a tough grass that is durable and can last in a drought and having your dogs use it.

Bermuda grass is very durable, but once it's in there there's almost no getting it out. It spreads via rhizomes and makes a nice carpet of grass, but is nearly impossible to remove. Zoysia is also good, and is softer. Both grasses will turn brown during the winter.
