Start with cleaning out the egr valve and all the tubing connected to it with carb cleaner. If the problem still persists either the valve or its sensor is faulty.

The first thing would be to try and clean it. Spray it with some solvent to remove build-up. Also be sure that any vacuum lines also are clear as well.
