What could cause a lump in the lower right abdomen?

Could be a number of things including a blockage in the intestines. If you are female this could also be an ovarian cyst which will more than likely resolve on it's own or with a antibiotic treatment. A tumor could also be the source whether malignant or benign. Better have it checked by a doctor to rule out cancer.

Lump in the lower right abdomen may be caused by a hiatal hernia. This an abnormality of the diaphragm and may result to heartburn. Risk factors of hiatal hernia includes heavy lifting, increased pressure on abdomen, heredity, smoking and stress.

It would depend on the patient. I would think that a lump in the lower right abdomen would be either a hernia or possibly an inflamed appendix. When I was pregnant, it was my daughter's knee!!

If you have a lump in your abdomen,you should seek medical attention immediately. Lumps could come from many different problems such as hernias,obstructions,cysts,tumors and adhesions either under the skin or in or outside the intestinal walls. Pay attention to symptoms such as pain,infrequent bowel movements,constipation,diarreah,unusual or foul smell,swelling or redness,and make sure you explain all symptoms to your doctor.

I get a minor balloning feeling when I have gas in my lower rt. abdomen. Also there is relief after a bowel movement or passing of gas.
