Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is caused by overuse of the wrist. This causes the nerves running to the fingers to swell and they get squeezed as they run through the carpal tunnel in the wrist. A small wrist can also mean a small carpal tunnel, making the condition more likely.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is caused by any pressure repeatedly put on the nerves surrounding the carpal muscles. This is usually in the form of bad typing forms, where the wrist drags against a desk or keyboard. Over time, the flexor carpi radialis and flexor carpi ulnaris press against the nerves, damaging them and causing pain.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is characterised by tingling, numbness and pain affecting the median nerve branches in the affected hand and is caused by compression of the median nerve. This is caused when when the tendons with run through the carpal tunnel become swollen/inflammed. It is a condition that seems to be familial but why is not fully understood.

The main cause of carpal tunnel syndrome is excessive use of the computer or excessive typing. You can also get carpal tunnel by using your wrist too much, such as writing, playing tennis, golf, etc. If you suspect that you have this, get a wrist brace and go see a doctor.
