There are many medications which can affect LFT's. Basically any drug that is metabolized by the liver will affect the results of your liver function tests. Some of these drugs include statins (Simvastatin, Pravastatin), steroids, antibiotics, diuretics (Lasix), antiseizure medications such as Dilantin

A common over the counter medication that can affect liver function tests is tylenol. A prescription medication used to control heart rate that can affect liver function tests is amiodorone. Anti seizue medications can also affect laboratory measurements of liver function. An example of such a medication is Depakote or Valproic acid.

Many medications can effect you liver function tests, the list is thousands long. The most common culprits are: pain medications like tylenol and NSAIDS, anit seizure medications, alcohol and cholesterol medications.

Any medication that is processed by your liver may effect a liver function test (LFT). Medications are processed (or eliminated) from you body by your kidneys, your liver or both. Some medications taken in high doses can damage your liver and effect an LFT. An example is Tylenol. People who overdose on Tylenol die from liver failure.

You should stay away from any NSAIDs such as Aspirin since they can interfere with your liver function. Be sure to consult a doctor if you are unsure.

Liver function test results are determined by the amounts of bilirubin in the blood. Several drugs that increase bilirubin levels are codeine, epinephrine, birth control, antibiotics, chlorpropamide and anabolic steroids.
