Crackers and a couple of different types of cheeses are easy to keep on hand for guests. Crackers should be of decent quality (avoid saltines!) and should be kept wrapped up for freshness. Cookies are also a good idea. Because many people suffer from nut allergies, snacks containing nuts should be avoided.

I keep good quality, low fat tortilla chips and a medium chunky salsa on hand. A nice addition is to use the microwave to melt shredded cheddar cheese on the chips and sour cream is a nice addition. Raw vegetables are also always a good choice and can be quickly prepared.

Some nice biscuits are always good if there to popping in for a cuppa. For night time visitors crisps or similar are handy, sometimes some rolls made with an assortment of fillings or frozen sausage rolls which you can quickly cook if the visitors are staying for a few hours.

Fruit is always good. You don't want to keep things with meat and dairy, because they go bad after too long, and you always have to think you might have a vegan coming! A little fruit and some water is soothing and refreshing, easy on the stomach too. Your guests will love it!

A few different kind of nuts, cheese, fruit, cookies, chocolate. These type of food will last for a while and will please most everybody. You probably will have bread, maybe tomatoes on hand anyway, so you can offer that too.

The best snacks are ones that do not expire fast and are easy to prepare. Cheese and crackers, chips and dip, cookies, and even vegetables with dip are all very good examples. Candy is also something that is easy to keep on hand and keeps people grabbing for more. Another easy snack would be sandwiches.
