You can be arrested for making fake money that looks like US currency. But making your own money called "Muscle Dollars" and a drawing of yourself with big muscles, you can't get arrested forthat. But do NOT make face US Dollars or you'll go to jail.

Yes, you can get arrested for creating fake currency, even if you never wanted to use it. If there is any chance at all that the money you're making is going to leave your house or be seen by anyone you don't know well, you should put some text on it that says "not real currency" or something like that.

Yes you can be arrested by federal authorities as it is illegal to possess money printing equipment, intentions have nothing to do with it, possessing materials to make money does.

Yes, you can. The only possible exception would be as part of an art project and it should be obvioulsy fake. There's no point in risking it though.
