Why do my wisdom teeth hurt?

There is a possibility that the teeth can grown in sideways, thereby pushing against other teeth and causing pain or sensitivity. Also, the gums may be tender around new wisdom teeth as they emerge, causing tooth sensitivity.

If they hurt, they could be pushing against another tooth or growing in the wrong direction. Most people need to have their wisdom teeth removed as you probably do. If pain persists and your dentist won't do anything, get a second opinion.

If they are breaking through the gums, this is called "eruption". When babies cried during teething, it was from the pain of teeth working their way through the gums. If the teeth are not erupting, see a different dentist to determine the cause of the pain.
