Auctions, Thrift Stores, and Yard Sales would be ideal places to look for an inexpensive country cupboard. If you would rather have a new piece, an Unfinished Furniture Store is your best bet. You can then finish it in your choice of paint or stain for a custom piece.

Your best bet is to look at flea markets, tag sales, garage sales, or junk stores. You can often find a piece in bad shape that can be painted for cheap. Most country pieces are painted anyway. You can distress them with a little sandpaper. True primitives from antique stores are going to cost you more than $100.
