What were cartoons like in the eighties?

They were all hand drawn, and 2 dimensional. As the computer animation hadn't been invented. They were full of wise cracks. The humor would be very dated at this day in age.

Cartoons in the 80s were primarily locally made shows with few imported shows from other countries. They were shows that ran from 12, 26, or 52 episodes with the purpose of promoting a certain Toy Line usually. As far as writing goes many 80s shows had interchangeable episodic plots. Some shows were split into two to three short cartoons.
