You should use straw for pig bedding because it is absorbent, and you can change it when it becomes soiled. Also, it is soft and dry for the pig's skin.

Straw is appropriate bedding for pigs, and they should have clean water and shade. Contrary to popular belief, pigs do not prefer to be dirty. If they have no place to clean up and remain clean and cool, they will cover themselves with mud as a protection against sunburn.
