Nobody knows exactly, but Thomas Jefferson wrote part of his diaries in pig Latin -- the sexy parts of his diaries -- and reportedly knew it as a kid, and he was born in 1743. One early print mention of "Hog Latin" dates to 1869, although it's not the version that we know now. Most popular in the 1920s and 1930s.
