What paint should you use to paint over a laminate counter?

Rustoleum makes a paint specifically for counter tops. It can be tinted to any of about 12 colors and is sold at any Home Depot. It doesn't require any special prep work on your counter. After you apply the paint you have to let it cure for three days before you use your counter. The price is about $20 for one quart.

An oil based paint will work best for this but there are other ways of replacing a counter. Your local hardware store should sell sealers as well as new laminate if you would like to go over the old laminate with a new texture or pattern. This might be a little more expensive but will look much nicer.

I don't know much about paint but you should maybe try semi gloss its easier to clean up and bonds better. I know that is for walls but not sure about conter tops. Check it out.
