What is the drug Adderall used for?

I have a couple of friends who are always looking for some. It drives me nuts.

The primary reason it's prescribed is for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. However, when used by people without that, or related, medical conditions it produces a stimulant effect which aids concentration. Though it also has heavy medical risks when used this way.

It is suppose to be used for Kids with ADD or ADHD but the teenagers are crushing the pills up and getting high or to lose weight.
