Will I have a problem with past drug use and getting hired in law enforcement?

I used to do drugs but not in along time. I want to be a police officer now.

It is VERY LIKELY going to be problem if you want to be in law enforcement and had prior drug use. I won't advise lying about your record.

If you were ever arrested or convicted then you will have a very hard time being hired anywhere that does a full background check. If not, you should be okay.

It varies by specific department whether or not an applicant will be completely disqualified from being employed based on prior drug-related convictions. A number of police departments have relaxed their standards because otherwise they are not able to find enough qualified candidates. You will have to ask about the hiring practices of the department you hope to join.

If you have any sort of criminal record, including for drugs, you will probably be unable to become a police officer. If you were never arrested, you should be ok.
