I always plain old Elmer's glue-all. Paste just doesn't seem to be as sturdy, and rubber cement is very good, but I prefer it for more substantial projects.
There is nothing better than the old standard Elmer's Glue. Everyone can use it and it cleans up quickly. And, if it wasn't so good would it still be available?
