Glyburide is a prescription often prescribed for Type II diabetes. It is an glucose lowering drug that is taken orally. Glyburide is in a class of diabetic drugs called sulfonylureas. It reduces the blood glucose by stimulating the pancreas to produce more insulin. Glyburide was approved by the FDA in May of 1984.
