A satin automotive finish is a type of paint job that is described as a soft pearl like shine or a non-glossy soft appearance instead of a bright polish. It is achieved by either sandblasting, altering a high shine surface, or brushing with a stiff wire brush. It is a popular type of paint for many cars.

A satin automotive finish just means that it should feel very smooth, hince no bumps in the paint or sand on the vehicle. Quite honestly though, it never feels like that. You can never truly get a car clean and satiny smooth, it just doesn't work that well. Try waxing it and it will look better.

Well satin like other paint refers to the amount of gloss on the surface of the paint after it has dried. Satin is typically between the typical glossy and flat.
