The gall bladder stores and concentrates bile which is fluid containing waste products from the liver. Sometimes these products can crystallize out and form gall stones. When the gall bladder contracts to empty the bile into the upper intestine, stones can block the outlet causing pain, nausea, and sometimes infection.

A problem with the Gallbladder is suspected in people with continuing pain, nausea and vomiting in the upper right side of the abdomen, usually under the ribs. This small tubular organ lying close to the Liver, stores enzymes used by the body for digestive absorption. Diagnosis of this illness is dependent on symptoms, laboratory and imaging tests.
