What can you tell me about troubleshooting VCRs?

Its the same procedure as any other electronic device with some additions. First check the power connection. Then check if there is a valid input and output signal. Connect the output to your TV and check. Also, you want to check both the audio and video signals. Some VCRs also have channels within them. If yours does, check that too.

The biggest problem you are going to have with VCR's is they are out-dated. Parts are going to be hard to find except for on Ebay, but there are always sites that will tell you how to fix it up.

Make sure connection is proper, make sure TV VHF is connected to VCR. Clean the VCR head regularly to increase the quality of audio and picture.

I have taken VRS's apart and repaired them using basic techniques such as tenstion adjustment to heads. It still should be left to professionals
