Coughing, sneezing and nasal discharge could be signs of kennel cough or canine influenza. While kennel cough sometimes can resolve itself given time, only a vet can determine the real cause of the illness. Antibiotics may be necessary.

Rarely are medications prescibed,it is the common cold,so not much.If you haven't heard URI from a Vet,it may be heartworm infection,seek care immediately!

In order to treat these types of infections the dog must be taken to the veterinarian. Depending on the severity of the infection, an antibiotic will be prescribed.

When my dog had hers and I took her to the vet and asked what I could do they told me they have to be taken to the vet and be put on anti biotics because there are so many different viruses they have to treat for the right one

Animals have same kind of diseases and treatment with dosages changed. Keep the dog seperate. Take the advice of a vet. Give a anti-virol shot to give a quick recovery. Do not play or move very close to the dog as this is a condageious one. Do not compel it to take food. Give only hot water.

Minimize exposure to unknown dogs. Stay out of dog parks where there is no way to insure the health of the pets there. Always stay current on your pets vaccines.
