There are several species of "house centipede", but by far the most populous is Scutigera Coleoptrata. It's found almost everywhere in the world. It is predatory, and actually feeds on other household pests such as cockroaches and spiders. It prefers dark, moist places commonly found in hollow walls, attics, basements, and bathroom cabinets.
