There are lakes at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. Called brine lakes, they are very salty and have shorelines. They are created by salt deposits and salt tectonics.

There is no lake at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. The gulf itself is a section of the ocean, is more than a mile deep in many places, so there can't be "a lake" on the bottom of an ocean.

Yes. There is a huge brine lake at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. And this is one site that definitely deserves more study.
