Dogs need a rabies vaccine every three years and a booster every year. Puppies recieve three series of vaccines called "puppy shots".

Well a dog has the average one or two when its a puppy but thats just for protection. They dont have to have the shots but its recommened they have the rabies jab every 3 years or 2 for a booster jab depending on what you can afford but dogs dont have to have jabs.

Although certain veterinarians will suggest you vaccinate your dog every three to four weeks with vaccinations such as distemper and parvo, a rabies shot is one of the only necessary shots on an annual basis (you really only need one).
