How long do you bake salmon? What is the best way to do that?

It's expensive, so I don't want to mess it up.

The best way is to heat a heavy bottomed saute pan on med high heat, season your salmon (salt and pepper is fine) add about 1 tbsp vegetable oil and sear one side until golden brown, then flip it and place it in the oven to finish for 8-10 minutes.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. You want your salmon to be opaque throughout, but NOT overcooked. You cook thicker cuts of salmon longer, a general rule-of-thumb being 4-6 minutes for every 1/2 inch of thickness. Be careful, the salmon will continue to cook after you have removed it from the oven.

Place the fish on a large piece of aluminum foil. Sprinkle on salt/freshly ground pepper. Add a bit of butter, some dill, a few lemon slices. Seal the edges of the foil. Bake at 350 20-30 minutes or til it's done the way you like it.

Salmon should be baked at between 350 and 400 degrees. The rule of thumb is to cook according to the thickness of the piece of fish. Every inch of fish takes about 10 minutes. This means if parts of your fish are thinner, they will cook first. Cook till the flesh is just barely opaque pink.
