Power down and unplug the tower. Open the computer's access panel. Locate the battery on the motherboard, generally near the PCI cards. Gently pry the old battery out with your fingernails or a very small screwdriver. Place the new battery into the same slot by pressing it into place.

For PC's remove the case and you should see the battery, it is a coin type, for laptops it is more difficult and usually requires the removal of the keypad.
