Unfortunately there are many different kinds of plants that all get lumped in as "snake plants." One of the most common (which is also known as mother-in-law's tongue) grows wonderfully indoors. It prefers low light and low infrequent watering. It comes in a number of varieties and can be found at most home and garden centers.
