Do you need to see a doctor for a minor case of Herpes?

We're just talking about cold sores.

If they're on your mouth, you can treat them with OTC medications. If they're genital, see a doctor, even if they're minor. He can prescribe medication that can decrease re-occurrences. Abstain from all kinds of sexual activity while the sores are healing, and remember, you can transmit sores to others (via mouth and genitals) even when you have no symptoms.

Even the smallest case of herpes can prove problematic. Cold sores can spread to other areas of the face – seeing a doctor for prescription medication is wise idea.

If you have an outbreak that won't just keeps getting worse you may take a trip to the doctor for some anti viral medication like Valtrex.

Herpes is very contagious and can be passed on a kiss on the cheek seeing a doctor is important just to make sure this is what it is also.

Not necessarily. Herpes is a common STD. You should use protection and warn your partner(s). Herpes can manifest other places than the genitals or mouth, like eyes and skin (herpes zosters), which can be painful. Unless you're looking for medication to shorten outbreak time (like acyclovir), there isn't any need.
