Pond supply shops will only have pond fish. For the widest selection visit a pet store such as Petsmart or Petco. A local mom and pop fish store might be even better. Check your phone book for Aquarium and Aquarium supplies, also check online and at fish forums for sellers.

Though supporting local businesses is good, no. Pet stores , internet, and especially local hobbyists are a few more good places. People with similar ponds will know of the "best".

Pond supply stores generally carry foods, plants, and pond making materials as well as fish. An aquarium store or online fish retailer is a better place to find fish

A lot of time they are. Pond supply store take good care of their fish and they are usually healthy enough to last for a long time. You can also buy fish online depending on how fancy you want to get. Everything from koi to salt water fish can be found online.
