Would a Yamaha Chappy be considered a moped?

It makes a difference in the law in my state.

You do need to check with the Department of Motor Vehicles in your State, to find out what the exact, requirements for the Moped classification are, but in most states the Chappy would not be considered a Moped. The designation for Moped usually carries a restriction on the horsepower or the top speed of the bike. 1BHP in most cases.

Yes, I think that since you end up putting your legs in front of you, rather than straddling like on a motorcycle makes it a moped. Also the size of it makes it a moped.

You should really contact your DMV to find out what the classify it as. Most states would probably consider it a moped but it will usually depend on what displacement it is.

yes it would, due to the very high powered engine and seat on it it can be considered a moped, if there is no seat on it and you have modified it with an exaust and no plates then its considered a go-ped and you can be fined or even get it confiscated
