Will Windows XP defrag chkdsk?

I am having issues with my computer?

Yes XP will do both. Right click on your C: drive and hit properties. Disk fixing utilities are in those menu's that pop up.

chkdsk is a utility program by windows which is used to check the problems in the disk and fixes it to some extent. The command is chkdsk /f /r /f is used to fix the error and /r which is used to locate the bad sectors in combination else try to use third party software available in live cd

Chkdsk is used to recover your files during abnormal shutdown. This utility will be automatically started during startups. If your harddisk is highly fragmented then defragment utility should be run. To access defragment utility go to control panel then Administrative tools then computer management. In computer management you can see amount of fragmentation and clicking defrgment menu will finish yourjob.

CHKDSK is a program used to detect and correct issues with the file system on a hard disk. This is different than defragmentation. Run 'CHKDSK c: /f' to correct any errors there. Then run scandisk. Beware your disk is likely dying if you run this frequently. Replace it.

I'm not too sure what you are asking. Disk defragmenter will make your computer run faster. You can try using Chkdsk to check for errors.

To perform defrag select Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Disk Defragmenter. Select the drive volume to defragment and click the defragment button. To Perform Chkdsk select Start->run In the open field type cmd ,click OK. At the prompt type chkdsk and hit return. This will start the chkdsk.
