Provera, derived from the hormone progesterone, is often prescribed to induce menstrual cycles and aid in conception. However, some patients find that Provera actually stops their periods completely.

If your periods have stopped, Provera may start them again. It can also regulate very irregular or heavy periods. If you have not yet begun menstruating, if you have reached menopause, or if you are pregnant, Provera will not induce periods. (It should NOT be taken by pregnant women.)

It can. Because it alters your hormone peaks of progesterone and estrogen, it can regulated your cycle. If you do not have a period while taking it, then there may be another complication.

Chances are no it will not. In most women, Provera actually reduces the number of bleeding days, makes the bleeding lighter or disapear all together.

Yes if you are willing to put up with the severe side effects. Halucinations, cold sweats and fever may not be worth doing this.

Yes. Provera contains progesterone. You take it for a certain number of days to create a high level of it in your system. When you stop taking it, your progesterone levels drop, sending a signal to your body to induce menstration.

Provera is a medication that controls your progesterone in your body. Many times when a period is lengthy or abnormal, provera is prescribed. It is given at times to stop bleeding when a woman is bleeding continuously and try to control the hormones that are causing the excessive bleeding. It is not typically prescribed to induce.

At times when a period is delayed for some reason other than a pregnancy a doctor or midwife will prescribe Provera to induce a period.

Yes taking Provera is used to force on a period. It should reset your cycle and force you to get your period and ovulate. this is good for women who haven't got regular cycles.
