Taking a vitamin supplement will help your nails, especially if it is one specifically labeled "Hair, Skin and Nails". Many companies produce supplements designed for this purpose and you can find them at your local health food store. Be sure to ask there for the staff's recommendation.

If you take a higher dosage of B-Complex, specifically Biotin, vitamins you should see some improvement in hair and nail growth and strength. There are also topical treatments available in the nail sections in most pharmacies. It is best to use both topical treatments and vitamins at the same time.

It all depends what kind of vitamins they are. Read what ingredients effect nail growing. Another way is to eat gelatin, jello products.
