Yes. There are many different scholarships available to "minorities" and being a single mother is included. They will feel that you need more help, so they are more apt to give you a scholarship. Search around, there are a lot of websites that detail different rewards and scholarships available to any group of people.

It depends on the school and type of scholarship you are seeking, but generally, because being a single mother is not a common demographic in college, it can help you obtain some funding. Even if the scholarships offered by the school directly do not pertain to it, there are foundations and private grants that encourage continuing education for single mothers.

The government grant program (Pell Grants) use the number of dependents and the number of supporters to help determine the amount of money that a student can receive. There are also several organizations set up to help mothers in your situation and you may need to fill out a few forms and/or write an essay.

Yes being a single mother will help you get a college scholarship. My mom is a single mother and she got a partial scholarship to college. She said it was tough to go to college and still be a single mother so good luck.

While some scholarships are intended specifically for single mothers and others give preference to single mothers while being offered to all women, good grades are also important.

Scholarships are largely based on academic achievement, but some organizations give scholarships to women seeking degrees. Often you are asked to write an essay, and you can discuss your challenges and strengths. Consult your school's financial aid office for a list of scholarships available, and then get busy applying!
