The nature of the headache dictates the effectiveness of each cure. A cold compress helps deal with headaches caused by swelling. A lot of headaches happen this way, so yes. It often will. Over the eyes can also be effective. Don't use for more than 15 minutes at a time.

A cold compress can help you rid your headache. You also can use a hot compress or alternate between both. Apply to neck, forehead, scalp.

A compress on the neck may not help your headache because you are not adressing the affected area. Try putting the cold compress directly on your forehead or temples.

Yes, it can help. This is a good solution especially if you feel warm. However, if you are feeling cold already, it is better to use a warm compress instead.

Neck muscles get stiff when blood flow is strained and this could lead to a headache. The strain can be from stressful thoughts or positions that block blood flow. Icing the neck muscles lessens the swelling that occurs from this strain and may help a headache. Ten or fifteen munutes usually works.
