Why isn't chicken parve?

Answer by  Binome (1975)

In order for something to be considered parve, it must not contain any meat or dairy and must not have come into contact with either meat or dairy products. Chicken, like all types of poultry, is a form of meat, so it cannot possibly be parve, though it can be kosher.

Only animals who lactate are included in the pareve prohibition. Chickens don't lactate, but they are not pareve as a precaution - some people could confuse chicken with pork.
