Why is my ankle swollen?

You may have injured your ankle without realizing it. Sometimes this can be caused by sitting on it in an odd position. This could also be indicative of a circulatory issue, or an infection.

Your ankle is probably swollen because you have been putting too much weight on it. If you are not used to standing up for long periods of time, then start to do so, this can make your feet, legs, and ankles swell up quite a bit. It also could be from eating too much sodium.

After standing too long, this happens. It could be circulatory problems. Another possibility is varicose veins. Water retention could be another cause.

There is inflammation of some sort in it or you are retaining fluid. When your circulation is not as good as it should the ankle and legs cane swell too. This is a reason to consult with a doctor.
