Why is it so hard to get an orchid to bloom again?

Orchids need consistent light. They need to be less than 3 feet from a window or strong light source. Orchids also need to be fed a weak plant food solution on a regular basis. Water using 3-4 ice cubes once a week and don't overwater. Orchids like cooler night temperatures, at least 10 degrees cooler than during the day.

Orchids are from a tropical environment. They need the right combination of humidity, sunlight, and room temperature in order to bloom. Depending on what part of the country you live in these climate conditions effect your ability to get flowers on your plant even though the plant itself maybe healthy.

If you are reading this you are a human, and so you live in an environment suited to humans. Orchids, of course, live in environments suited to orchids. These vary, depending upon the species, but rarely coincide with the conditions people prefer. Look up your specific orchid's cultural requirements, match those, and you may have better luck.
