the light is made up of many colors. the shorter wavelength gets scattered more easily (blue)while the most of the longer wavelength pass directly thr it.the shorter wavelength is absorbed by gas molecules and is radiated in all directions as our retina responds to blue color it looks blue.

This is because of the rayleigh diffusion, diffusing sunlight ray colors with low energy first (orange, yellow, red), letting the blue rays passing through the atmosphere.

Light from the Sun is made up of a large spectrum of colors, as seen in a prism or a rainbow. The sky looks blue because when light hits the atmosphere, the blue part of the spectrum is scattered everywhere and the other colors just pass on through.
