The reason that poop floats is a comination of different natural chemicals and vitamins primarily fiber. So pretty much poop floats depending on what kind of diet that you have.

Your poop will float if it contains more fatty substances and it will be filled with air so it will float and that is not a good sign. if it sinks you eat the proper and healthy food your body needs and your poop will not be filled with air.

According to Dr Oz if your poop floats, you're eating too much fat or the fat is not being absorbed. In either case that's not good. Healthy poop sinks.

Human poop is comprised of multiple substances. If your diet is proper your poop actually should not float, it should sink. One of the key ingredients to human wellness is water. If you do not include the proper amount of fluid in your diet your feces will instead become enriched with air. Air filled poop will float.

Most of the time it is because of the weight of it. I am sure it has something to do with the way the toliet is made.

Stool is made of about 75% water, and when your body contains the correct amount of fiber then your stool is supposed to float. This is a good thing. If your stool does not float then it means you are lacking fiber in your diet.
