Question by  JorgeMuralles (9)

Why does Pittsburgh use a giant eagle for their mascot?

I can't see what it has to do with Pennsylvania.

Assuming you mean the Pittsburgh Pirates, the team isn't using a giant eagle, it is actually a parrot. It is a reference to pirates frequently shown with parrots as pets.

The Philadelphia Eagles have an eagle for their mascot, due to the fact that it's the nickname of the team (as all teams have). The Pittsburgh Penguins have a penguin for a mascot again, because of the name of the team (if it looks like an eagle, it is actually a penguin).
