I'm not sure if you are referring to false labor or false pregancy. If it is false labor, this could be caused by an issue or straining during pregnancy. If it is false pregnancy; in some circumstances, a dog that was "fixed" after her first cycle of being in heat will experience false pregancy during the normal cycle time.

Your dog may be experiencing early contractions just as people do. Her body may be "practicing" for the big day. Make sure that she is otherwise well and healthy, eating and voiding sufficiently. If you have other concerns about her status, call your veterinarian to make sure there are not other, hidden problems.

Her hormones are fluctuating a lot, as in any pregnancy. Her body is releasing enough hormones to throw her into false labor but not enough to have the pups.

She may be having trouble with anxiety that will cause it or the puppies may be getting big and crowded that will cause it also. If you are very concerned contact the vet she may be trying to abort.
