motorcycle

Question by  sluff001 (1)

Why does my motorcycle start up and rev at 4000 rpms with the choke off? What is the problem?

Electric start won't work, but the kickstart will eventually get it going. That is when it starts reving at 4000rpms. Could it be anything other than the carbs?

You would want to check the choke or you should look into the oxygen sensor. That made my car go way up on the rpms. Might wanna check your spark plugs too.

Your idle adjustment could be way off. Try unscrewing it in half turn increments until the bike doesn't rev high anymore. Don't be afraid of letting it run that high. It can't be anything serious if the bike turns on.
