Animals have allergies, just as people do. My friend's dog was itching, scratching and chewing on himself every time he ate certain foods. The veterinarian recommended a diet of only fish and rice. Other meats (chicken, beef), could aggravate your dog's condition. Your dog probably has food allergies.

My dog always itches after eating because he eats so quickly that he gets it in his teeth and on his nose. Though he appears to be scratching himself with his teeth, he is actually cleaning his teeth and snout.

Your dog might be allergic to one of the ingredients in the food. Have you recently changed it's diet? There are foods you can buy that are for dogs with food sensitivities, maybe they would help.

It is either just a habit, or he may be allergic to something in his food. Try switching brands of food, and see if he is still itching after he eats.
