Question by  Lynore (191)

Why does my computer think I am in the UK?

I live in the U.S. When I log on, I am directed to the UK sites, etc.

There are several possible reasons for this. The most likely is that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is assigning you an IP Address in a range that is commonly used for IPSs located in the UK. Some websites use your IP as a rough estimate of geographical location.

The reason your computer thinks you are living in the UK is because you have a UK IP address. You are probably using a proxy server and it has assigned you an IP address from the UK.

You also could be using something like Hide my IP and it set your computer to another IP.
