Why does my cat scratch her ear?

My cat is always scratching her ear, is there a reason cats do this?

She might have fleas,or ear mites. Look in the ear to see if you can see anything in there. You may want to take the cat to the vet.

There are a lot of reasons why cats scratches there ears but looking at how you described your cat's predicament, it seems that she has ticks in her ears.

Some common causes: ear mites, insect bites and dry skin. The ears are very vulnerable because the skin is easily accessible so mosquito's, ants, spiders and fleas love to bite there. Dry skin can be resolved by going to your pet store. They have a wonderful kitty cleanser on the ear that moisturizes the skin.
